Senthil Kumar

Senthil Kumar is the Programmes Manager for Global E-Schools and Communities Initiative (GESCI), An UN Founded Initiative.

Since 2008, he has been providing support to 16 African countries in developing Policies & strategic plan to Ministries in the area of in the area of ICT4E / ICT4D / TVET / STI, Leadership capacity building, Workforce skills development, Teachers Professional Development, Digital Learning Resources and Monitoring & Evaluation to support towards “Building Knowledge Societies” to   

Prior to joining GESCI, Senthil Kumar worked as Head of Technology Initiatives, Content Development and Partnerships for India’s largest Not for Profit organization, Azim Premji Foundation (APF).  During his 5 years tenure, Senthil Kumar provided leadership in integrating ICT in Education over 20,000 schools, Trained over 100,000 Teachers and reached out to 3.5 Mn children.  With the partnership framework of APF and Government of India, Senthil Kumar provided strategic advice and capacity building to the Ministries of Education in Algeria, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.  

During his tenure of 2+ years with Schoolnet India Ltd as Senior Manager–Projects, he has implemented K-10 Regional Programs in Southern States of India through Public-Private Partnership model and also conceptualized / piloted “virtual classrooms” with the video based content modules.  

Before moving into development sector, Senthil Kumar worked 9 years for top ranking corporate & Multi National Companies in various functions / capacities and implemented multiple large scale turnkey engineering projects in India / Asia.

Senthil holds Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (rank holder), Post-Graduation in Business Administration, Post-Graduation Diploma in personnel Management and Foundation course in Education.  In addition, Senthil Kumar holds many certified professional courses such as M4D, Leadership Development, Instructional Design, Interaction Design and Project Management etc.
