Intel Collaborates with the Ministry of Education in Côte d’Ivoire for Education Transformation through ICT

ABIDJAN, June 8, 2016 – In the context of its efforts to transform education through ICT, Intel Corporation represented by Mr. John Galvin, Vice President of the Sales and Marketing Group and General Manager of Intel Education signed today a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Education in Côte d’Ivoire represented by Mrs Kandia Kamissoko Camara in the presence of Mr Daniel Duncan Kablan, Côte d’Ivoire Prime Minister, Mr Robert Beugré Mambé, the Governor of Abidjan and other government officials for projects related to the deployment of 1:1 eLearning solutions in public primary and secondary schools in the country.

This is in line with Intel’s vision to promote digital literacy, build innovation capacity in an increasingly smart and connected world and prepare today's students for the global knowledge-based economy. This education transformation initiative falls under the umbrella of the citizen PC program executed by the ministry of ICT through ANSUT (The National Agency of Universal Telecommunication-ICT Services) and supported by Intel. The project is to be accomplished in 2 phases; the first phase will consist of a pilot in selected number of schools to test the suggested solutions and the second phase is to use the pilot results in the development of a master plan for generalizing the 1:1 solution in a national scale.

The MoU not only aims at projects transforming education but also modernizing and refreshing Ministry of Education ICT infrastructure and innovation in schools through the promotion of maker programs aiming at putting in the hand of budding entrepreneurs and young student the technology to bring to life unique, smart and connected creations.

This public-private collaboration is in line with Côte d’Ivoire Numeric strategy and with Intel and the Ministry of Education shared interest in the joint deployment and establishment of teaching and learning programs, school and student curricula and educational standards as well as in the development of novel hardware and software solutions allowing expanded access to information at affordable rates, to address the digital divide.
